What is Hacktoberfest?

Hacktoberfest is a month-long celebration of open source software run by DigitalOcean. Hacktoberfest is open to everyone and and is free of cost.You can sign up anytime between October 1 and October 31 to participate.

How to Participate?

It’s simple and even a beginner can participate in it. All you need is a Github account. GitHub is a code hosting platform for version control and collaboration. It lets you and others work together on projects from anywhere.

Register at Hacktoberfest by signing into your github account. Then all you need is to make 4 valid pull requests to any repository which has been labelled under the tag “Hacktoberfest 2020” by 31st October.

Why Participate?

Hacktoberfest is not just about swags.It is a celebration of opensource. It’s about giving back to the community and supporting it.

It is a great opportunity if you are a newcomer and want to start with open source development.

Also you get to learn how to read the code, fix bugs and improve your knowledge.

After Completing Four Contributions (Pull-Requests) ?

After completing 4 PRs, wait for two-week review period.After your PRs are reviewed, Hacktober will sent you an email regarding your winning contribution with link where you can claim your t-shirt at.

Also you’ll receive a mail from where you can claim your Hacktoberfest Completion Badge which you can display on your dev profile.
